Washington. Pentagon insiders have guardedly acknowledged that they are taking seriously scenarios for a terrorist attack on the headquarters of the US Department of Defense along the lines described in thriller author David Alexander's best-selling novel Threatcon Delta, which the Joint Chiefs of Staff have officially described as a "blueprint for national security that America can't afford to ignore."

Since the book's appearance military and political officials have been quietly using the plot of Threatcon Delta as the basis of a top secret computer war game that duplicates the takeover of the Pentagon by a rogue military commander as described in Alexander's book.

"We're extremely concerned," said a Pentagon offidial, speaking on condition of anonymity. "When subjected to sophisticated analysis, a number of the situations described in Threatcon Delta have been demonstrated to be feasible in reality." The official acknowledged that the Pentagon has not yet devised a workable defensive plan that would be effective in the event of what the Joint Cheifs of Staff have dubbed the "Threatcon Delta Scenario" in their miliary planning sessions.

Hollywood. One of flimdom's top directors has reportedly been tearng his hair out in attempts to track down a wayward leading lady so shootng can begin on a major action film based on David Alexander's best-sellling global action thriller Snake Handlers.

Friends of the actress, who has starred in a number of hit action movies as a two-gun shooting, whip cracking adventuress, say that while in Paris to research parts of the script for the movie, Alexander and the actress began a torrid love affair. Friends of the couple claim that they have locked themselves away in the actresses posh estate and are hiding from the world.

Regardless of whether there is any truth to these rumors or not, it's a fact that one of the most expensive motion pictures ever filmed has been stalled for weeks due to the disappearnce of both the film's scriptwriter and star.

The White House. Officials have been unable to contain a leak concerning the tasking of thriller author David Alexander as special presidential envoy on a mission to Iran. Although the exact nature of the mission is so far shrouded in utmost secrecy, a highly placed source at the Pentagon has revealed that it concerns the recovery of an advanced surveillance aircraft that disappeared over Iran during a top secret mission recently.

Alexander was reportedly tapped by a joint crisis team made up of government officials that included representatives of the CIA, the Pentagon and the National Security Agency because of his bestselling technothriller Black Manta, a fictitious account that it's claimed closely paralleled what actually is believed to have happened to a US aircraft over Iran.

In fact it's rumored that Black Manta is in actuality a thinly veiled account of another disappearance and recovery operation of a covert stealth aircraft that was sent into Iran as part of a joint US-Russian program to identify the location of secret Iranian long-range nuclear missile facilities and decvelop a joint multinational battle plan to destroy them if the Iranians ever decided to use them regionally or straategically against the United States, its regional allies or deployed US military forces in the region.

Alexander was reportedly assigned the task of developing a rescue and recovery mission based on orbital imagery of the potential crash site of the plane. Alexander, however, is reported to have refused to draft such a plan unless he was given full authority to command a secret special operations team to be inserted into the Iranian desert. In order to qualify for the operation, Alexander went through Special Forces training including parachute jumping, advanced weapons training and nuclear weapons disposal training.
