Alexander's writings first came to the attention of the Defense Department with the release of his global action thriller Special Ops in 2000. Alexander's newest release, the just-published military action thriller, USMC, is viewed as a vision statement by all three service branches for proposed modernization of U.S. warfighting capability."Many of the scenarios and many of the weapons systems envisioned by Alexander in USMC seem to come out of top-secret Defense Department studies and wargaming exercises," a source close to the office of the JCS said. "What might be called the 'alternate universe of warfare' that Alexander writes about in USMC, with a resurgent Soviet Union and terrorist regional armies are all possible developments that we've considered and are preparing to combat."USMC, the Pentagon official concluded, "Is more than a book to the Defense Department -- we consider it a war plan." 25 Feb 2007 03:00:57 GMT http://www.davidalexanderbooks.com/pentagon_studies_alexander.xml defense@xmail.net Literature, fiction, war fiction, top news, military http://www.davidalexanderbooks.com
