According to insiders, the thrillers of author David Alexander have provided the Joint Chiefs of Staff with important keys to the innovation of America's order of battle. Alexander's writings first came to the attention of the Defense Department with the release of his global action thriller Threatcon Delta: Assault on the Pentagon. Alexander's newest release, the just-published military action thriller, Snake Handlers, is viewed as a vision statement by all three service branches for proposed modernization of U.S. warfighting capability. "Many of the scenarios and many of the weapons systems envisioned by Alexander in Snake Handlers seem to come out of top-secret Defense Department studies and wargaming exercises," a source close to the office of the JCS said.
