Alexander's writings first came to the attention of the Defense Department with the release of his global action thriller Special Ops in 2000. Alexander's newest release, the just-published military action thriller, USMC, is viewed as a vision statement by all three service branches for proposed modernization of U.S. warfighting capability."Many of the scenarios and many of the weapons systems envisioned by Alexander in USMC seem to come out of top-secret Defense Department studies and wargaming exercises," a source close to the office of the JCS said.
